For many writers out there who have still to leave their staple on the world’s reading industry, especially in the fantasy market where we compete with the likes of Tolkien, Feist, Donaldson, Eddings and Rowling, it is hard to raise the capital to fund a book launch. The funding required is not only to order prints for the number of books that you want to sell at your launch, but also for the advertising and venue rental costs.
While some are fortunate to either make enough off their books to fund their own launch, or have family / friends who can simply sign a cheque to assist, the rest of us in the back valley rely on crowdfunded support. These are campaigns started whereby those with enough moola and interest can give money towards your cause.
For authors, this provides a unique opportunity towards sustainable book launches for the future. Once you’ve found funding for the first launch, it just takes some business savvy to employ the sales from the launch to fund the next book tour… and the next… and the next… and the next…
I’ve decided to give Indiegogo a try. I’m hoping that this will provide me with enough backers to at least get something small started, even if I don’t reach the full total. So for those of you who would like to see my first book launch being realised and know of someone that could potentially back me, please visit my Indiegogo campaign at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/epic-fantasy-book-launch. You will see I have loaded several perks for those that back this campaign.
Thank you in advance for your support. Please share this with others who may potentially be able to assist.
In love and grace
